Narration Change of Optative Sentence
Sentences expressing wish or prayer are called optative sentences. Reporting verbs in such sentences are changed into pray, wish, desire etc. The form of a sentence is also changed into assertive and the linker is 'that' .
Said/told etc.➤ wished/prayed/strongly expressed etc...

Examples:
Direct: The man said to him, "May you be happy."
Indirect: The man wished that he might be happy.
Direct:Mother said to me, "May God bless you."
Indirect :Mother wished that God might bless me.
Direct:He said to Ram, "May all your wishes be fulfilled."
Indirect : He wished that Ram's all wishes might be fulfilled.
Exercise
1. He said, "May you live long."
2. The followers said, "Long live our leader."
3. My mother said, "May you shine in life."
4. Mother said, "May you live long, my son."
5.The teacher said to the students, "May you all succeed the examination."
6. Grandfather said to me, "May God bless you."
7.Debika said to Ram, "Had I the wings of a bird."
8. Suzuka said to Doreman, "Had I the height of a palm tree."
