Epigram:
It is a figure of speech which is an apparent contradiction in language but has an underlying significance. It has an apparent absurdity but has a real deep meaning. It is a terse and pithy saying.
(i) Failure is the pillar of success.
(ii) I am become a name.
There is an apparent contradiction in the sentences. But here there is a deep meaning. The speaker means that he has become a symbol.
The paths of glory lead but to the grave.
(iii)The child is father of the man.
(iv) Cowards die many times before their deaths.
We mortal millions live alone.
(v) Silence is eloquent
(vi) Language was given to man to conceal his thoughts.
(Vii)The king is dead, long live the king.
(Viii) They also serve who only stand and wait.
(IX) He makes no friend who never made a foc.
(X)Art lies in concealing art.
