Linker will be "if/whether". If "Wh-word" remains in the speech then "Wh-word" will be the linker .
EXAMPLES:
1.Ram said to Sita ,"Do you like it ?"
Ans:Ram asked Sita if she liked it .
2.Ram said to Sita ,"Why do you like it ?"
Ans:Ram asked Sita why she liked it.
3.He said ,"Where are you going ?"
Ans :He asked where I was going.
4.He said to Ram , "What is your father's name ?"
Ans :He asked Ram what his father's name was.
5. Bristi said to Soumi, "What did you want to eat ?'
Ans :Bristi asked Soumi what she had wanted to eat .
