Ans. In R.K Narayan's short story "Leela's Friend", Mr Sivasanker said this to his wife. 

#Mr Sivasanker informed  his wife that they had taken a great risk by engaging Sidda as a servant. According to the police, Sidda was an old criminal. He had been in jail half a dozen times for stealing jewellery from the children. The inspector could easily identify Sidda from his description, and he was angry with Mr Sivasanker for not consulting him before engaging Sidda.

The police assured Mr Sivasanker that Sidda would soon be arrested. They know his haunts. So there was a good chance of getting the gold chain back.
