He had great intelligence. He hardly left any clue to his crime. He simply befooled the police .Only Ben Price had been able to catch him. He was very clever tactful and resourceful. At the time of Springfield robbery case, Ben was given the charge of investigation .We come to learn that Jimmy was overpowered by Ben. Jimmy was arrested. Again Ben took over the investigation after the theft in Jefferson City. Ben knew Jimmy’s habits. Jimmy senses danger .He left the town and came to Elmore. At Elmore he was a stranger. But he was able to win the heart of the banker and his daughter. Jimmy and Annabel were engaged. In the main time Jimmy had to experience an awkward situation. He had to open a vault to save a child. So he used his tools .Ben saw whole operation and he did not arrest him. He realizes that Jimmy had changed for better. All this shows that there was many ups and downs in the relationship between Ben and Jimmy.
