Annie Besant

 Annie Besant was one of the greatest freedom fighters .She was an English by birth, but an Indian by choice. This great lady was born on 1st October 1847 in London.  She was not only a famous writer but also  a well - known socialist . (She was also an activist for the rights of women)/She was also an activist who struggled for the rights of women . Later she took part in Indian politics . She joined the Indian National Congress to liberate Mother India from the clutches of the British .She became the first woman president of this frontal organization  in the struggle for freedom in 1917. She passed away on 20th September , 1933 in Madras , India.She will remain ever in the hearts of millions of  Indian for her sterling love for India and significant role to free India from the clutches of the British rules.
