Come there but one cold wintry day,

আসে যদি এক ঠান্ডা শীতল দিন,

Away will fly our guest the Swallow:

উড়ে চলে যাবে তখন আমাদের অতিথি সোয়ালো:

And much like him we find the way

এবং অনেকটা তারই মতো আমরা খুঁজে পাব পথটি

Which many a gay young friend will follow.

যে পথ অনুসরণ করবে আমুদে তরুণ বন্ধু।

In dreary days of snow and frost

  বরফ ও তুষারের বিষণ্ণ দিনগুলিতে

Closer to Man will cling the Sparrow:

মানুষের বেশি কাছে আঁকড়ে থাকবে চড়ুই পাখি

Old friends, although in life we're crost,

পুরোনো বন্ধুরা, যদিও জীবনের পথে আমরা বিচ্ছিন্ন

Their hearts to us will never narrow.

তাদের হৃদয় আমাদের প্রতি হবে না কখনও সংকীর্ণ

Give me the bird-give me the friend-

আমাকে সেই পাখি দাও—আমাকে সেই বন্ধু দাও

Will sing in frost-will love in sorrow-

যে তুষারেও গান গাইবে—দুঃখেও ভালোবাসবে

Whate'er mischance to-day may send,

আজকের দিন যাই দুর্ভাগ্য আনুক না

Will greet me with his sight tomorrow.
