Tragedy Strikes Nepal : 157 Lives Lost in Devastating Earthquake

Nepal ,November 4 : At least 157 people were killed in a strong 6.4 magnitude earthquake that originated in Nepal's Jajarkot district .The quake occurred at 11:47 p.m on Friday. The earthquake's impact was felt as far as India's capital ,New Delhi and the National Capital Region ,over 800 kilometres away.( The government has taken immediate steps to provide relief to affected people.)The official machinery had been geared up to provide relief work and rescue operation on war foot. Helicopters and army planes were pressed into service to rescue the people.  200 people have been  injured .Authorities shifted scores of injured persons to multiple local hospitals in the foothills and some of them might be airlifted to India .Home Ministry officials have informed that 1800 houses have been completely damaged in Jajarkot while 2500 damaged in Western Rukum  .The water and power supply of entire area have been affected ,as a result ,normal life is paralysed. Prime Minister Puspha Kamal Dahal flew to the area early on Saturday with a 16-member army medical team to oversee search ,rescue and relief .He assured the people of all sorts of assistance.
