Flash Flood Devastates Malbazar, Jalpaiguri

Malbazar, Jalpaiguri,July 23, 2023: A sudden and devastating flash flood struck Malbazar on 22.08.2023.Incessant rainfall for the past few days flooded a large portion of Malbazar.The rivers swelled up and water gushed into villages. Trees have been uprooted.Many villages have been flooded.(Trees were uprooted .Many villages were flooded.)Mud houses in the affected areas have been destroyed totally and plenty of cattles washed away . The resident of pucca houses had lost all their belongings. Eight persons were washed away, while fifty persons were stranded on a small island. Flood affected people were taken to safe places. The government took various steps of relief work . NDRF and SRDF started rescue operations. Food , medicine , clothings etc. were distributed among the flood affected people. The chief Minister has made an aerial survey of the flood affected areas and assured all sorts of help.The government has announced ex-gratia compensation of Rs 2 Lakh for the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
