(a) Discuss with examples different kinds of adverbial clauses in English.

(b) Discuss the varieties of present tense forms of verbs in English and show with examples how

they are used in sentences.

(c) Show by giving specific examples how subordination and co-ordination are done in complex

and compound sentences in English.

(d) Discuss with examples different types of past tense in English language.

2. Answer any one of the following questions: 1x10= 10

(a) Do you think that the traditional method of second language teaching is still an effective one?

Discuss in detail.

(b) What is the audio-lingual method of teaching? Analyse its merits and demerits.

(c) Explain how the use of technology can improve communicative competence at the

undergraduate level.

(d) Discuss the basic features of the Audio-Lingual method of English language teaching.
