"You have an interesting face"-Who is the speaker and whom did the speaker say this to? How did the person spoken to react to this comment? How was the comment mended later on by the speaker?

Ans. In Ruskin Bond's short story 'The Eyes Have It' the narrator is the speaker here. He said this to the girl who got into the compartment at Rohana.

As the narrator was blind ,he could not see how the girl looked like. He was eager to know the girl's looks and so he became quite daring to say that she had an interesting face. The girl accepted this flattery with a clear ringing laugh. She also told/informed the narrator that she was tired of people telling  her she had a  pretty face.

When the narrator came to know that the girl had a pretty face ,he tried to mend his comment by saying that an interesting face could also be pretty.

(The narrator very tactfully managed to learn that the girl had a pretty face and felt relieved. Now he tried to mend his comment by saying that an interesting face could also be pretty.)
