How did the elder prince kill the mendicant and receive the virtue of perfection from the Goddess?
The elder prince and his brother went to the temple of Goddess Kali to uncover the truth about the Rakshasi’s story. Inside the temple, the elder prince heard from the skulls of six men that the mendicant planned to sacrifice him as the seventh offering to the Goddess. They advised him on how to save himself and free them as well.
A few days later, the mendicant brought the elder prince to the temple for the sacrifice. He asked the prince to bow before the Goddess. The prince, pretending to obey, said he had never bowed before anyone and asked the mendicant to show him how. When the mendicant bowed before the Goddess, the prince quickly cut off his head with a single strike of his sword.
Being pleased with the prince’s bravery and cleverness, the Goddess blessed him with the virtue of perfection.
জ্যেষ্ঠ রাজপুত্র ও তার ভাই রাক্ষসীর গল্পের সত্যতা উদ্ঘাটনের জন্য কালী দেবীর মন্দিরে গিয়েছিলেন। মন্দিরের ভেতরে জ্যেষ্ঠ রাজপুত্র ছয়জন মানুষের মাথার খুলি থেকে জানতে পারেন যে ভিক্ষুক তাকে সপ্তম বলি হিসেবে কালী দেবীর কাছে উৎসর্গ করার পরিকল্পনা করেছে। খুলি থেকে রাজপুত্রকে নিজেদের মুক্তি ও নিজের জীবন রক্ষার উপায় জানিয়ে দেওয়া হয়।
কয়েক দিন পরে, ভিক্ষুক রাজপুত্রকে বলি দেওয়ার জন্য মন্দিরে নিয়ে আসে। ভিক্ষুক তাকে দেবীর সামনে প্রণাম করতে বলে। রাজপুত্র ভান করে সম্মত হয় এবং বলে যে সে আগে কখনো কাউকে প্রণাম করেনি, তাই ভিক্ষুক তাকে দেখিয়ে দিক কীভাবে প্রণাম করতে হয়। ভিক্ষুক যখন দেবীর সামনে প্রণাম করল, তখন রাজপুত্র তৎক্ষণাৎ নিজের তলোয়ার দিয়ে এক কোপে তার মাথা কেটে ফেলে।
রাজপুত্রের বুদ্ধি ও সাহসিকতায় সন্তুষ্ট হয়ে কালী দেবী তাকে পরিপূর্ণতার বর প্রদান করেন।
