The king and queen believed that the mendicant had died because he never came back to claim his share. With this thought, they dismissed all fears and lived peacefully. The twin princes were growing up under skilled tutors who taught them various subjects. They also learned horse riding and archery, becoming highly skilled in these arts. The young princes developed into handsome and intelligent individuals. People admired them for their beauty, skills, and promising future as rulers. They showed signs of becoming great leaders and continued to earn respect from the people of the kingdom.

A Rakshasi, disguised as a beautiful woman, said these words to the princes. 

She pleaded for her life and promised to reveal a critical secret. She told them that the mendicant was a devoted worshipper of Goddess Kali. He had already sacrificed six men to attain spiritual perfection and was searching for a seventh victim. That’s why he had brought the elder prince to the forest. She warned them that the mendicant planned to sacrifice the prince at Kali’s altar. The Rakshasi advised them to visit the temple and see for themselves the truth of her warning.

3.How did the younger prince realize his brother was in danger? What did he do?

The younger prince had a habit of looking at a special tree planted by his elder brother. As long as the tree's leaves remained green, it indicated his brother’s safety. One day, he noticed that some leaves had turned pale and faded. Realizing that his brother was in danger, the younger prince immediately informed the king and queen about the situation.Being determined to save his brother, he planted a similar tree as an indicator of his own safety. Then, he selected the fastest horse from the royal stable and set off towards the forest, ready to face any danger.

# On their journey through the forest, the elder prince and the mendicant encountered(met) a puppy by the roadside. The puppy expressed a wish to accompany the prince, and its mother agreed. The prince happily took the puppy with him. A little further ahead, they saw a tree where a hawk and its young ones were sitting. One of the young hawks wanted to join the handsome prince as well. With the mother hawk’s permission, the prince accepted it as his companion.
