ABC High school, Bankura 16th May 2021 : A memorable function was organized in our ABC High School at Seminar hall with solemnity on 15th May ,2021 at 11 A.M to mark the occasion. The function included cultural programme as well as speeches by dignified guests. The whole school building was decorated highly .In front of the stage a life size portrait was placed .Mr.  Prasanta Kumar Mahato ,the local BDO , inaugurated the function offering flowers to Viswakabi .At the same time the opening song written by Rabindranath was sung by a student of class XI . There were several solo recitals of Tagore's song and poems by students and teachers . Among them the recitation of " Africa " by respected teacher B. Mandal and song by Priyanka Roy of Class -Xi won the heart of audience .The students also staged the drama "Raktakarabi" by Rabindranath .Mr. C. Bose ,headmaster of school delivered his speech .He laid emphasis on the impact of Rabindra Sangeet.The programme ended with the speech of Mr. Bose.The programme made the students feel that Rabindranath is still very much alive in the lives of the Bengalis.

Science Exhibition At ABC High School

Bishnupur, Bankura, January 16,2021:ABC High School organised a science exhibition at the school campus on January 15 this year . It was arranged  to provide a common platform to students to give shape to their innovative ideas and to increase awareness among the students about the close relationship between science , technology and society.A total of 110 students from standard IX to XII participated  in the exhibition and displayed their innovative talents . Separate class rooms were allotted to each class and the students in charge were to explain their projects . The students of various classes and groups were ready with their various kinds of charts , models , diagrams pictures and so forth from 11 a.m. . The students  made many innovative models like hanging bridge, electromagnetic crane , burglar alarm , magnetic track etc. They also prepared things like the process of volcano eruption and how Tsunami occurs . The students of our school , their guardians and a few other students from the neighbouring schools came to see the exhibition . All the visitors were very much satisfied after witnessing the efforts of the students . Our headmaster lauded the effort of the students and felt proud for them . Refreshments were provided for the volunteers and incharges of the exhibition from the school . This kind of initiative is very much essential to promote participatory and hands-on - learning in science , and to enhance the student's knowledge and making learning a funny experience .

Bishnupur ,Bankura,6th June 2021:  The World Environment Day was observed this year in ABC high School with due solemnity and reverence yesterday. Different programmes were undertaken to make the students aware of the significance of the day .The function was presided over by the A.D of schools . Other dignitaries were the C.M ,the local M.L.A and the principal of Ramananda College. The president inaugurated the function with the planting of a sapling in the school premises. Then followed the afforestation programme by the students around the school. The newly planted saplings were fenced. It was followed by the stage function where all the celebrities emphasized the necessity of the pollution free atmosphere and the role of the students in this regard . Mr. C. Bose ,headmaster of school delivered a long speech. To combat the menace of global warming ,the alarming rate of deforestation and the resultant impact on environment they reminded students of their duties and responsibilities. The whole function was a brilliant success.

Bishnupur , Bankura,20th march 2021   : A blood donation camp was organized in the school auditorium by the Star club of our school. A medical team from Bankura Sammilani Medical College conducted the camp .As many 40 students volunteered to make the camp a success. The act of blood donation started right at 9 a.m. The Headmaster opened the camp by donating blood himself. Students, teachers and local people donated blood. Total no. of donors was 105. The members of Star-club well managed the whole function. Every precaution was taken as regards the drawal of blood. The donors were medically tested before the final selection. If anything found wrong with anybody, he/she was not allowed to donate blood .Anyway a light refreshment was provided to each participant in the camp.

ABC High School, Bankura, 28th September, 2021 :A farewell meeting was conducted in the school auditorium on 27th September this year. Mr. Chandan Bose ,an assistant teacher of our school was given a farewell on the solemn occasion of his retirement yesterday, Mr. Chandan Bose, a sincere and committed teacher, had been serving the school for more than four decades. The farewell function was presided over by the D.M, Bankura . A short cultural function was arranged for this purpose .There were songs ,recitation, classical ,dance, etc. by the students and teachers. The function opened with a song sung by some students in chorus. The departing teacher was garlanded first .The H.M. of the institution also delivered an impressive speech about Mr.Chandan Bose's contributions to the all-round development of the school. All his colleagues paid heartfelt homage to the retiring teacher. They regarded his departure as an irreparable loss for the school. Then the departing teacher  was  asked to say something . Mr.  Bose gave a charming speech recollecting some of his memorable days . Mr.  Bose  promised to work for the well being of the school even in his post retirement years. Therefore when it was the turn of of the students ,they spoke highly of him. During the last session of the function ,the secretary delivered a brief speech . Finally the students and the teachers handed over him some gifts as token of their love and respect to the retiring teacher. At last the headmaster called the function a day and we all left the school building bidding our retired teacher goodbye.


7.A Devastating Flood

Alipurduar , July 27,2021 : A devastating flood  hit/ravaged  Alipurduar , Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar in West Bengal and Hailakandi , Karimganj , Kokrajhar and Dhubri in lower Assam on 26 /07/2021 .( At least 75 people lost their lives,many more were missing). The situation had marginally improved with the water level of all river receding .Crops of the vast areas had been washed away.Thousands of mud - built houses  had  been collapsed.The residents of pucca houses had lost all their belongings.Eight lakh people had been affected in Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar . Meanwhile , the death toll in the floods in North Bengal rose to 188. About 75 , 000 people had been rescued by  army  and civil authorities .A large area of the state became in accessible as some 30,000 kilomtres roads were under water and destroyed or damaged. Tele-communication system was also damaged. The government took various steps of relief work. Packets of dry food,the bottles of pure drinking  water, clothings and medicine   were distributed among the flood affected  people or thrown from helicopters . The streets were crowded by hundreds of naked children and men and women in torn clothing , waiting for relief materials to be brought by clubs and voluntary organisations. The Chief Minister has made an aerial survey of the flood stricken areas and promised all sorts of help from the state to relieve the suffering of the flood - affected  people .

An Educational Tour Organised in ABC School.

Bishnupur,Bankura, August 16, 2021:ABC School organised an educational tour.Two Volvo buses were hired for this. We started our journey at 7 a.m on 12/08/2021.The students assembled in the school campus on the appointed day in time. Our esteemed teacher, Mr. Ajay kumar Saha accompanied us as a guide. We reached in Murshidabad at 7 P.M.and stayed there in a hotel.We started to roam about this historical place from the next morning.We visited the battle field of Pallasy. The beauty of this place impressed/fascinated  me. The beauty of Moti-Jhil also fascinated  us.We spent hours enjoying the splendour of Moti-Jhil.Headmaster encouraged us to note down the important things about those places.We returned home safely after three days.
